(Your) Future

Insomnia is keeping me awake
 Closing my eyes, thinking about a lake
 But wait;
 Upstairs neighbours flushing their toilet
 The wettest dreams you’ll never forget

7 a.m., real life is calling me
 It is disguised as noise, no need to see
 But feel;
 Reaching for the snooze button again
 Someone is going to miss the train

Hurried living in the fear of missing out
 Instead of grasping what it was about
 But now;
 On an escalator you rush past
 Having gained 5 seconds that won’t last

Independant gone to the great unknown
 Finding myself with my thoughts all alone
 But no;
 Writing checklists keeps my mind on track
 Actually doing stuff is my lack

That should be considered as a real skill
 A seemingly worthless resume still
 But will;
 Politicians are doing the same
 No honesty at all is a shame

On the way to find something meaningful
 We are passing by anything hopeful
 But small;
 Success, a bra that fits perfectly
 That hurts your wallet only gently

Personal freedom is given up on
 Good or bad, by someone else it is won
 But gone;
 I feel free looking like I’m homeless
 Discounter wear, I couldn’t care less

They might try and get into your head
 Not even listening to what is said
 But dead;
 They are cheering 50 shades of grey
 Disgusted with my green hair display

Being part of something wanted or not
 Development is all in your best shot
 But what;
 Contemplating about life in here
 A party, so not drunk, so sincere

It’s all about coping with something new
 You either keep the old or change the view
 But who;
 A smalltown girl in a big city
 Growing into something less shitty.

Farewell

Farewell

Weeks go by, take these thoughts
Incomplete, complete hearts
Weak the lines, stronger the words
Unclearly, clear the paths

Memories of people looking back
All light, all right
But sure most of them tend to forget
All night, all fight

Ain't the black as pretty as the white?
One truth matters as much as ten lies.

Asking "how?" buries answering "what?"
Seeing now the need to interrupt

Why apologize for what cannot be undone?
Regrets will keep you from seeing the rising sun.
Focus on yourself and don't even try to run
Hiding behind the glory of just anyone.

The excuses and praises seem to go along
With the blame and the pity saddening this song.

Crack a joke here and there,
So if the mood's all down,
Someone may really care
And even try to frown.

Give them nostalgia, some retrospective events
For it is a show that they hope finally ends.

You are an actor, but they are the stars,
But why play stupid, put them behind bars

Yesterday may leave you alone
And the future is still unknown
But this moment when all is gone
Shows that it is all better now.
